Thaaaaanks Pl4yitLOUD and AppyHappy for this great fix :)

But I have a little issue and don't know if its on my side..
It seems that I can't save my settings ( it worked before I used win 8.1) and get the message : An error has occured while saving the file
but I get my way around it so not really a problem.
And I dont know if someone else has this issue?

Try the following:

- Start AudioMuxer
- Go to your C:\Users\<your userid>\AppData\Roaming\AudioMuxer folder
- There is a AudioMuxer.ini file. Now move that file to somewhere else. I would not delete it for now, just move it away from its current location.
- Go now in AudioMuxer to Application/Settings and save again your settings.

Should this give the same error, then please PM me and we'll sort it out offline.

Is there any way to convert a .dtshd file to a SPDIF/WAV or FLAC file, as can be done with plain .dts or .ac3 files?

I believe that SPDIF only supports lossy DTS and not (lossless) DTSMA, for example.
Try to rename .dtshd to .dts and see what happens. I think only the (lossy) core of the DTSMA stream will be played.

If you have the ArcSoft DTSHD Decoder installed then AudioMuxer will decode the DTSMA to Wav for frequencies above 48kHz. If you do not have the ArcSoft decoder installed then an open-source alternative will be used that will decode up to 48kHz. PM me should you need technical assistance.
Again, FWIW, bare in mind that SPDIF is limited to max 48kHz.

I pass everything over HDMI; I just put .dts and .ac3 files in the SPDIF/WAV wrapper so I can make flac files, and then tag , and output to HDMI with foobar + WASAPI.... so the limit of an SPDIF connection itself doesn't apply in my case.

I definitely don't have that version of ArcSoft decoder, mine predates DTSHD. Will have to look into that...
