Ok So I saw that it was not a good idea to use spec for upconverting. Being the skeptic as always I tried to do a 96khz vinyl rip with spec. Well that didnt work so well. So my question is this...is there another bidule or are there settings that i should change wherin i can get similar results as with spec doing 44.1. I know someone here will have some good advice so lay it on me. ( I also have some 192 vinyl rips that i would love to do in 192 DTSHD). Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

From your comment, it's hard to infer that the poor result you got was due to the higher sample rate. However, every thing else being equal, the rule to follow with SPEC is that the higher the sample rate, the larger the FFT window size should be. In Plogue, set the FFT size to 16384, which is the maximum size. Then, in SPEC, reset the FFT latency. With this FFT window size, the DSP load will be quite high. If you want to live monitor before running the album (you should if you want to avoid unpleasant surprises), you may have to temporarily bypass some parts of the layout (like AutoV2, if you are using it). Make sure to set them back to Processing before running the album through in offline mode.

Thanks Ill give that a try. As to the problem with the conversion it was jumpy and very distorted. When i did it @44.1 there was no issue

This issue is a bit different. In that the final result sounds a bit dirty. The stuttering was indeed while i was listening to it. I tried to record and while it did not stutter it seemed that it was just dirty sounding with a sort of hiss or something. I am not exactly sure how to explain the noise I hear. I dont think its my machine. I am running a 3.4 Gig 64 bit processor with 8 gigs of ram on Win 7 64 bit. I am not however using the 64 bit plogue but the 32 bit.I will continue to play around with the settings and see if i can come up with a viable answer. I really appreciate all the help everyone here gives. Its nice to be able to get answers from people that know. I would also like to thank the people from That Other Forum that was mentioned.

I do not hear this in the original. Possibly a small amount of noise from the needle in the grooves. I listened to it back in mlp after the conversion. On a side note I was able to listen through plogue at 48khz as suggested and then was able to convert at 96. I like using arctan but it seems at least in this case that slice was a bit cleaner. does that make any sense to you? So at least for now it seems that using slice has made a difference although i dont really know enough to figure out why.
