Zeerround, one more observation after playing with it some more, IMO the rears actually sound beter with the wires attached wrong (as in your first pic), if you combine it with the rear L-R wires coming out of SPEC switched. You should try it and hear for yourself. There's much more information in the rears when connected this way. Only thing that could cause problems maybe, is if you have a lot of bass in the rears (not likely in most cases anyway!), because of possible cancelation/phasing issues. But really, please give it a try. Maybe it's possible for a future build to make a switch, so you can invert them like that if you want? |

Blake - I actually live-monitored an album tonight with the adjusted, "correct" layout that I had converted a couple of nights ago with the "wires crossed" layout. My observation was that I was able to get to a better level of separation with the "correct" layout. This would make sense when you consider that, with wires crossed, you were actually blending in Slice-processed sound from the SL to the SR, and vice versa. |

I also would like to point out that with quite a few VST's you have the possiblility to swap and/or invert channels (both or just one), with sometimes dramatic effects, for better or worse. Cheers! |

OK then. So what might be happening here is some sort of 'doubling' effect caused by a 'partial phase-shift'. Partial since in this particular case it's only a (small) part of the total signal. Just thinking out loud here.  On a side note, have you ever seen this plugin? http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/spectralconquest.html It also works with FFT. I thought it might be nice to stick this one after SLICE to maybe cut out some specific frequencies, left over lead vocals mostly, but unfortunally it crashes every host I have on my system after a short time. |
