Hey all, I'm sort of a Noob at this so please excuse my ignorance and if I use the wrong term for something. I have recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs and downloaded some software to extract the audio so that I can re-author a DVD-Video with the content. I am using AudioMuxer as everyone else in here is using. I can demux the DVD-Audio discs into FLAC, WAV, or even a direct demux that gives me MLP files. But if I try to select those files with AudioMuxer, it tells me MLP is not supported in this version. I'm running version 0.9.6.5. I can open them to convert to standard DTS, but I can not add those files directly to the DVD I'm authoring. There is a MASSIVE difference in the file size so I know there is some lossy compression going on there. How can I author a DVD with the MLP files that I have?

*And as a disclaimer, my DVD-Audio discs were purchased legally through Amazon sellers and eBay. They are the original commercial copies and NOT bootlegged copies of the discs. No copyright violations have happened.*

If you want to make a DVD Video, the best qualify would be to use the audio conversion tool, in audioMuxer, to convert the flac files to "standard wav" 48Khz, 16bits. AudioMuxer will then mux those as an LPCM audio track.

If you want to encode as lossy DTS, you would convert the flacs to mono wavs (48Khz, 24bits, Standard Wav) and encode with a DTS Encoder. Then AudioMuxer will encode as a DTS audio track.

If you want to make AVCHD (Blue spam file format on a DVD) there are more audio encoding options available, but your player needs to be AVCHD/Blue spam compatible.

MLP is not a supported audio format for DVD video discs, only DVD - audio, which you started with, and AudioMuxer cannot create. See the wikipedia article on DVDs.

MLP is also not a supported audio format for AVCHD/Blue spam. if you can't playback LPCM (seems odd, it's just .wav) then your only choice is to decode the mlp (or use the flac) and encode to some flavor of DD or DTS. Assuming you have access to DD or DTS encoders that support lossless formats, you could keep the qualify of the MLP through the whole process.

To see if your player can play AVCHD/Blue spam, just have AudioMuxer make an MKV and try it.

What is your player and what are you connecting it to (and with what kind of cable)?

You have not answered my question about what is your player and what is it connected to with what cables.

If it is connected via optical or coax you'll never get 5.1 unless it is encoded with DTS or DD. If it is 6 RCA or 3 stereo 1/8 then you can play 5.1 LPCM. If it is HDMI you can play up to 8 channels (7.1) LPCM.
